Responsible to: Deputy Head of School (as part of the School’s Distributed Leadership and
Management structure)
Line Manager: Head of Languages
Liaises with: Teacher of Korean
Job Purpose:
Assistant Teachers make the education of their pupils their first concern, and are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct. Assistant Teachers have strong subject knowledge, keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date and are self-critical; forge positive professional relationships; and work with parents in the best interests of their pupils.

Key Responsibilities:
1. The Assistant Teacher will assist and support the teacher of Korean to:
o Provide an organised, disciplined and stimulating environment in the classroom. To promote practical first hand experiences and other educationally appropriate activities for individual and group learning.
o Provide consistent learning opportunities for all pupils.
o Prepare short, medium and long-term planning in support of the agreed curriculum in the format requested.
o Make written and/or oral assessments and evaluations of individual pupils and groups - meeting specified deadlines when required.
o Keep detailed and updated weekly class plans and records of group and individual work with the pupils.
o Offer support and input to the development of a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum.
o Take responsibility for the care, upkeep and development of school materials and resources.
o Support and apply all Renaissance policies and procedures.
o Examine and moderate class work.
o Take part in the school performance management programme.
2. In addition, the Assistant Teacher will:
o Promote the school positively at all times.
o Work with fellow colleagues in a spirit of mutual cooperation to maintain and enhance a pleasant professional working environment.
o Substitute for absent colleagues when necessary.
o Undertake any other reasonable task or duty as instructed by the Head of School or any other line manager.
o Attend punctually on all occasions agreed in the contract and as reasonably requested by the Head of School or line-manager
3. All members of the teaching staff have the following pastoral responsibilities:
o To carry out fully and efficiently pastoral and administrative duties as assigned by the Head of School.
o To participate in after/out of school events such as: staff pre-school briefing, staff meetings, parents’ evenings, educational visits, as may be reasonably requested by the Head of School.
o To be responsible for a reasonable number of playground, lunch and other duties as may be required.
o To offer full support, take an active part and input into the development of a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated extracurricular programme within Renaissance.
o To support and implement the positive behaviour policy.
o To undertake any other reasonable task as instructed by the Head of School, Deputy or any line manager.
Qualifications and Experience
This position requires:
- Excellent organization, interpersonal skills and computer skills
- Bachelor’s degree. Having Pedagogic Diploma in Korean language is an advantage.
- 2 years of experience in education
- A commitment to professional ethics and compliance with regulatory rules.
